………….One dejected parent “S” was seen strolling across the park late
one morning, shaking his head and mumbling to himself. When asked
what the problem was, the answer had the rest of the parents in
stitches. It seemed that “S” had offered his son “B” $50 per goal
that day, knowing full well that the coach intended to place “B” as
the goal keeper for the entire game. Unfortunately the following
game required players to supplement a depleted opposition, and “B”
offered his services to the opposition for that game as well. Less
than 15 minutes into the 2nd game and “S” was $100 poorer
and considerably wiser………
Editor’s comment: Moral to the story – there’s no such thing as a
sure bet!
…………..And then there is the story of “D” who’s efforts to track down
his opponent with the ball apparently only go so far. There is
obviously an invisible line across the width of the field (which
only he can see) and at which point “D” throws up his hands and
stops dead regardless of who else is following him.…………
Coaches’ comment: It looks like he calls for barley’s – (fingers
crossed) – and goes out of the game so he doesn’t get caught. Duh?
………….Despite the gallant efforts of the coaches to prevent the
players from swinging on the goal bar one intrepid young player –
let’s call him “Q” – is often seen swinging like a monkey.
Considering he is the smallest player in the team, the coaches are
stumped as to how he is getting up there in the first place……
Editor’s comment: Maybe the rest of the team are putting him up to
it!
…………On
hearing about “Q”'s extraordinary feat another coach rightfully
pointed out that maybe the team had found a goal keeper after all.
He suggested that if “Q” could leap up to catch onto the goal
bar, he was obviously the man they were looking for..............
Coaches’ comment: How did we miss that?
…………….After watching one team
warming up for their Challenge Cup semi-final, coach “C” commented
on the number of times the poor team players missed the ball in
their warm-up routine. “I thought I was back at the club. It
reminded me of my own team” he quipped. “I felt like pulling on my
coaches’ shirt and going out there to help them out!”…………….
Editor’s comment: Kids are certainly funny. One minute you’d swear
they had never seen a soccer ball before, and the next minute they
are playing like stars! Go figure…..!
